“Red Sneakers”  is the first musical from the Urban Opera Project. It is based on the heartbreaking, but uplifting true story of an especially vulnerable at-risk teen.  “Red Sneakers” utilizes the story-telling structure of “the blues” as a tool for self-discovery and empowerment.  It will be the product of the singing-acting-dance collaboration of 10-12 at-risk teens with coaching and mentoring by professionals in music, dance, acting and performance arts. Rhythm tap dance segments with the teen performers have been staged by tap dance and choreography legend, Chester Whitmore.
