“The Only Thing That Can Kill Us Is Death”  a Contemporary Art Maze Installation by Albert Reyes

Los Angeles, California-based artist Albert Reyes showcased his contemporary art maze installation at The Vex Arts Center on October 25, 2013. The event titled “The Only Thing That Can Kill Us Is Death,” presented a selection of mixed media artworks set inside a contemporary art maze.

This maze installation has become an annual event that is being excitedly anticipated by those who want to experience screaming while having fun. Overtime, this maze has significantly improved in terms of structure, construction, and features to provide visitors with an exhilarating spooky experience.

Reyes, who specializes in creating conceptual art, is known for using homemade and found objects that he believed would be appropriate for the art that he is creating such as bottles, suitcases, clothes, old photographs, and TVs,. With these objects combined with his artistic skills, Reyes is expected to create a contemporary art that boasts uniqueness and creativity. Reyes stresses that the concept behind his Halloween maze is to create something artistic that can visitors scream in fear while still having fun.

The Contemporary Art Maze Installation at The Vex Arts will be curated by Omar Holguin, an award winning curator who is committed to helping national and international artists in cultivating their artistic skills as well as in providing them with a place where they can showcase their masterpieces to a broader audience. He is currently the Chief Curator and Arts Director of Vex Arts Center.

To compliment the Albert Reyes’ Contemporary Art Maze the band ICY LYTES performed a 2 hour set to a mixed crowd of 200 guests comprised of art collectors, music lovers, art lovers, fans and just people looking for a fun evening.
