La Mancha Gallery is honored to be hosting the Arts Pavilion at the 21st Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival!

La Mancha Gallery will be hosting for the 3rd year in a row The Arts Pavilion at The 21st Central Avenue Jazz Festival. A 30’x80′ foot tent that will house cutting-edge art from top artists in Los Angeles as well as live muralists and a “John Coltrane Chapel” art installation.

Curated by Omar Holguin the selected artwork ranging from all sizes and mediums will include a live painting presentation by renown muralist and artist EnkOne, a “John Coltrane Chapel” art installation by artist Donald Frazell, Mexican Artist Xavier Yarto, the magnificent fully functional cardboard sculptures of Ron Zeno and talented artists like Kevin T. Williams, Alexander Sedoyan, Darren Smith-Robinson, Sly Fabu and many, many more. The art installation by Stephen M. Gates will be set against the backdrop aesthetic of black tubes, colorful hats and lampshades with white trees accents.

Directly across from the historic Dunbar Hotel, the beautifully-restored mecca for jazz legends of the l930’s and l940’s, Virtually all of the artists represented had personal and emotional connections to the neighborhood and the African-American jazz culture which had flourished there in decades past. Many artists participating have achieved widespread recognition, even worldwide acclaim.

Project Description

in celebration of Martin Luther King Day Art lovers in Los Angeles enjoyed a collection of cutting-edge art from upcoming local talent and some of Los Angeles most renowned artists for the 31st Annual Martin Luther King Parade at Leimert Park presented by the Congress Of Racial Equality, Monday, January 18th, 2016 The exhibit will be curated by Omar Holguin, Director of La Mancha Gallery and in collaboration with The Vision Theater, a 40’x40’ ft tent will be provided to house the art exhibit that will feature art of all sizes and mediums, from Ron Zeno’s recycled cardboard sculptures to the colorful abstract art of Darren Smith-Robinson. “This event celebrates the life and legacy of Martin Luther King thru the arts” said Holguin of La Mancha Gallery. “From renown muralist and artist George Combs paintings and even Don Frazell’s massive installation of Judgement Art Chapel, a tribute to John Coltrane all featured in an exhibition that is open for the people of Los Angeles to see while enjoying a day out at the Martin Luther King Parade”. The Martin Luther King Parade and Art Exhibit took place on January 18th, 2016 at Leimert Park Plaza located at 4395 Leimert Blvd, Los Angeles. The parade will commence at 9:00am while the art exhibit tent opens between 10:00am—6:00pm.

Project Description

Event curated by Omar Holguin, award wining curator and founder of La Mancha Gallery. Featuring  selection of imposing large  sculptures made from recycled cardboard,  from “The Eiffel Tower” to “The Titanic” all fully functional and ranging from different sizes. Ron Zeno uses his dedicated energy and discipline to cut and paste intricate and exact moving parts of a replica of the Titanic for example to cleverly highlight the energy to create the real thing.  The idea is accentuated by an emphasis on sustainability and recycled materials.

During the art exhibition VisionLA’15 will present a series of films and documentaries  with themes of climate action and social transformation made by independent filmmakers and artists shown at different times during the day.

Ron Zeno on view at The Armory Center For The Arts is located at 145 N. Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, CA on December 5 & 6, 2015 with opening hours from 12-5 pm.

Vision LA Festival 2015 is a month long festival that calls the attention of climate change throughout the world. VisionLA’15 has been timed to coincide with the United Nation’s 21st “Conference of the Parties” on Climate Change (COP 21), The art exhibit was paired with a series of films related to sustainability and climate change to be shown at The Armory Arts Center in Pasadena

Project Feature

Project Description The Leimert Park Vision Theatre Consortium kicks off its 2nd Annual Leimert Park Festival of stage readings, community arts, music, culinary arts and more, starting Thursday August 27 thru 30th. Opening night performance will feature special guest jazz artist Barbara Morrison and her big band in a performance of “Dinah Washington”, with closing performance by renown actor Ernie Hudson. In addition 14 production companies have joined the celebration and the efforts to define the Leimert Park Vision Theateras the hub of great African American theater companies, artists, writers and performers alike. The 4 day celebration will pay homage to the theater companies no longer operating in Los Angeles with stage readings of plays from their archives. “A play reading festival will call attention to the ongoing $23 million renovation effort at the city owned, 1930’s era Vision Theatre in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles” – Christina House for the LA Times La Mancha Gallery has agreed to curate and organize an Arts Tent that will house cutting-edge art from local talent as well as top renown artists in Los Angeles. Curated by Omar Holguin the selected artwork ranging from all sizes and mediums will include world renown artists like Ron Zeno, Mohammed Mubarak, Enoch Mack, Kevin T. Williams, Darren Smith-Robinson and many more … The opening night reception with Barbara Morrison Performance of “Dinah Washington” will take place on Thursday, August 27th, starting at 7:00 PM at The Regency West located at 3339 West 43rd Street, Leimert Park, CA 90008. A Gala Reception will follow after the performance. Opening night tickets are $35. Project Description

Los Angeles was once host to a thriving jazz scene that centered on Central Avenue, especially around the recently-revamped Dunbar Hotel that hosted Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway and Lena Horne. The Central Avenue Jazz Festival has been continuing that legacy each summer since the mid-1990s. This year Central Avenue Jazz Festival turns 20 and will be celebrating the only way we know how, BIG!

This year La Mancha Gallery has been asked once again to participate in organizing the Festival’s Arts Pavilion, where we will house the most impressive collective of artists in Los Angeles.
the 20th Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival! Thousands of Angelenos will gather July 25 and 26 in the Vernon-Central neighborhood of South Los Angeles for the 20th Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival, in a celebration of community and music. This free community festival, which celebrates the rich cultural history of Los Angeles’ Central Avenue, kicks off Saturday, July 25th at 11:30 a.m. on Central Avenue, between 42nd and 43rd streets, in front of the newly renovated historic Dunbar Hotel.

The festival takes place on several blocks of Central Avenue, south of Martin Luther King Boulevard, which includes the Dunbar Hotel for two days, there are many booths with food, arts and crafts, as well as community outreach programs. The festival is free of charge. This event takes place on Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th from 11am to 7pm.

This free community festival, which celebrates the rich cultural history of Los Angeles’ Central Avenue by offering the the following community free services.
Youth Pavilion. Featuring arts & crafts, face painting, interactive musical activities, educational demonstrations, and the LA Galaxy Star Squad and Futboleros.
Health & Wellness Pavilion Offers blood pressure and health screenings, guides for healthy eating, and vision tests for children.
Arts Pavilion See what our local artists from near and far have been creating. La Mancha Gallery will be hosting a 30×80 foot tent filled with local artists and world renown talent aw well. There will be art for purchase, as well as, live art demonstrations by local artists.
Business & Work Source Pavilion Resources and information will be available on site for emerging businesses, entrepreneurs, job seekers and employers.
