Project Description

During my role as Executive Director at The Vex Arts, I always felt that we could push the boundaries in our 9,500 square foot building, I knew we had a great production team and the resources to create events outside of the box.

I began to have conversations with my team about what kind of music, art and fashion designers we wanted to collaborate. The stage was set for a series of monthly events that would be centered on a concept or theme.

For our first project we chose “Private Island Warehouse Dimensions”, a collective group comprised of Artists, Dj, even Gallery Owners. This particular group of artists hold monthly gallery exhibits and performances at their location in downtown Los Angeles. The Private Island Dj Collective consists of, SH4M4N, Savage Fantasy, Yung Bong, and Joe Bickle. Together with this great collective of artists the featured guests included Reverb-heavy R&B sextet JODY. The group is made up of producers Brandon Boom and Jeremiah Chrome (of The-Drum fame) and singer-songwriters David Robertson, Khallee Standberry-Lois, Cole Johnson and James King (the GTW).  JODY was recently named a  Best New Artist by SPIN Magazine.

And finally for the winter fashion show and art exhibit we we created a theme around Movember in support for men health awareness, with fashion designs by Bernadette Mopera & Co and Make up by Bellezza Global. The Art Exhibit was curated by Omar Holguin with installation by Stephen Gates and included a collection of local artists and sculptors.

This event took place on November 23, 2013
