Original of Zacatecas, Mexico and currently residing in Los Angeles, California, at the moment Maria Teresa teaches different painting techniques, Oil, Encaustic, Temple, Acrylics and painting on Silk and Batik. She graduated as a Dental Surgeon from the Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas, Mexico. A Profession that she exerted during some time and eventually leaving it to devote herself to her Artwork. Maria Teresa utilizes in her paintings, a basic self- taught form. She makes her painting and drawing studies at the Art Studio of Julio Ruelas and Ala 21. Later on she was credited with a Degree in Art and Textile Design and another one a Museographer at the Instituto Zacatecano de Cultura Ramon Lopez Velarde as well as different courses from Plastic Arts, honor distributed by Professor Luis Nishizawa and in Self-Help Graphics Art in Los Angeles, California.
To date in the Plastic Art she has presented/ displayed over 60 exhibits both collective and individual exhibits throughout Mexico 1997-2006. At the International level she has exhibit in Japan 2000, United Sates 2001-2006, Cuba 2003, and Germany 2005-2006. In her exhibits the work that stands out are “ Muestra Internacional de la Grana Cochinilla y Tintes Naturales”, “Un Siglo en la Plastica Zacatecana”’ “Muestra Joven de Pintura Zacatecana” ,” Maestros de la Plastica Zacatecana” in O’Melveny Gallery in Hollywood, California. In the Museum of Latin American Art, General Consulate of Mexico, Mexican Cultural Institute, Self-Help Graphics in Los Angeles, California well as in the biennial of plastic arts in Havana, Cuba and one of Artists to Artists Germany 2005. By the trajectory as plastic artist the INMUZA (Institute for the Zacatecan Women) grants her the 2001 recognition of “Mujers que abrieron camino en Zacatecas”. (Women that pave the way in Zacatecas).
